Raffle and Adoption Event #3: Elst Brewery

By |

We’re happy to introduce our Spring 2022 class! Our third event will be outside at Elst Brewery. We invite you to come by to meet Franklin who is participating in class this session. He is looking for their furever homes! They will be through their second week of class, so they’ll be able to show off more skills they’re learning.

In addition to the fun atmosphere, several generous community partners have donated some fun items for us to raffle and raise funds for our program! Special thanks to Elst Brewing Company, Steamboat on Central, Central Cinema, The Bark, K9 Center of East Tennessee, and Mast General Store (Knoxville) who’ve put together some great people items & dog-related goodies! We hope you’ll come out and experience the 4 ‘Fs’ with us: Franklin, Food, Fresh air & Fun!

All dogs are medically screened, fully vaccinated, microchipped, on heartworm preventative, and will have basic obedience training at the end of their 4-week course. We are accepting applications and will work on home visits while classes are going on. All dogs will be able to go to their new homes on April 29th after graduation.

All breeds and ages are the best guess from our Dog Selection Committee and Veterinarian.

Meet Our Fall 2021 Class

By | News, Photo Gallery | No Comments

We are happy to share our new group of dogs participating in our fall class. Meet Fitz Gerald, Moose, Scarlett, Jolene, and Maple! They have their first outing at the adoption event on Sunday, September 12th, at Meadow View Garden Center, and start classes on the 13th. As we learn more about their personalities at events and in classes, we’ll share more about them. We are currently accepting applications on these dogs here: Adopt A HALT Dog

While the teen handlers are training their dogs, the kids too will be learning patience, respect, responsibility, and building self-esteem and self-confidence in themselves. All dogs are fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, spayed or neutered, on heartworm preventative, and are looking for their forever homes to go to once they graduate in early October.

Adoption Event #2 – Ijams Nature Center

Fun loving, white and brindle-brown hound mix. About 1 year old and 26lbs. Long and lanky hound legs to go with a sleek fur coat. She is a sweet soul.

Tan & black male Yorkie (full size), 10lbs, and between 3-6 years old. Moose is a very sweet boy (we could’ve spelled his name ‘Mousse’, he’s that sweet) and is a big fan of belly rubs.

She will steal your heart and maybe your man! Very sweet white and cream-coated Labrador retriever/Aussie/Pyrenees mix. Weighs 30lbs and around 1 year old. She’s young, bouncy, playful, and very sweet and shy all rolled into a cute package.

Happy-go-lucky and energetic. About 1 year old, 13lbs, and we believe him to be a tan and white Jack Russell mix. He’s been wonderful meeting the other dogs in our program.

Foxy and soulful reddish-brown and cream coated Aussie Cattle Dog mix. Weighs 32lbs and between 3-6 years old. She has a happy-go-lucky temperament, exudes calm energy and has excellent manners. She’s a big lap dog and everyone who has met her has loved her instantly!

We’re so happy to start classes back this fall! We’ll be outside at Ijams Nature Center for their Bluegrass Night at Meads Quarry. Come by to meet our new “Fab 5” that are participating in the fall 2021 class. They are looking for their forever homes! They will be starting classes September 13th, and should be able to show off some of the new skills they’re learning.
